The invention relates to a process for producing zinc oxide fibres by electrospinning from polymethyl methacrylate solutions in dimethylformamide, the fibers being used in the field of optoelectronics, in order to manufacture transparent electrodes to be used in photovoltaic devices, comprised within gas sensors and the like. The claimed process takes place in an environment with t=22°C and relative humidity of 70% and consists in preparing a working solution comprising 10% polymethyl methacrylate with a molecular mass of 350000, 7.5% Zn acetate and dimethylformamide as solvent, which is introduced into a syringe fixed in a syringe pump having as spinneret a stainless steel needle with an inside diameter of 0.5 mm, which is connected to a high voltage source of 15 kV and supplied with a polymer solution with a rate of 0.5 ml/h, the unstable solution jet being projected towards a panel-type collector connected to the ground, after which the collector is subjected to a calcining heat treatment consisting of two stages: a first slow heating in air by 2°C/min up to reaching a calcining plateau of 450°C, while maintaining said plateau for 1 h, and a second heating by 5°C/min up to reaching a calcining plateau of 800°C which is maintained for 8 h.
