According to one embodiment, a vibration isolation system (10) includes a heater element (18) thermally coupled to a damping element (12) formed of an elastomeric material having an elasticity that varies as a function of its temperature. The damping element (12) physically couples a first structure (14) to a second structure (16). The heater element (18) selectively heats the damping element to regulate its temperature for controlling the elasticity of the damping element.
