The method involves dividing ore particle-magnetic particle agglomerates (A) precipitated from the suspension into a mixture of separately present ore particles (E) and magnetic particles (M), and separating magnetic particles from the mixture. A primary mass flow (MS1) containing magnetic particles and a secondary mass flow (MS2) containing ore particles are formed. An information (I1) describing a measure of the content of ore particles in the primary mass flow and another information (I2) describing a measure of the portion of magnetic particles in the secondary mass flow are determined. An independent claim is included for a device for obtaining non-magnetic ores from a suspension containing non-magnetic ore particles and magnetic particles.
