PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fat metabolism-improving agent obtained from Sedum sarmentosum of Crassulaceae, a medicine or food for an animal or a human having a fat metabolism-improving effect, and further new megastigman and flavonoid compounds obtained by separating and purifying the extracted components of the S. sarmentosum. PSOLUTION: This fat metabolism-improving agent is characterized by containing the whole grass of the S. sarmentosum, extracted liquid obtained by extracting the S. sarmentosum by water, a water-containing lower aliphatic alcohol or the like, an extract essence obtained by concentrating the extracted liquid, or megastigman and flavonoid compounds obtained by separating and purifying the extracted liquid, etc. The medicine or food for the animal or human, containing the fat metabolism-improving agent, and the new megastigman and flavonoid compounds obtained by separating and purifying the extracted liquid, etc., are also provided.
