PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an autonomous mobile object, a speed setting device, and a speed setting program for smoothly changing a running speed of the autonomous mobile object.;SOLUTION: The autonomous mobile object 100 includes: a vision sensor 2 for measuring a given range in a mobile environment; a first aisle-area computing unit 3 for computing an aisle area actually measured within the given range from a result of measurement by the vision sensor; a location estimation unit 4 for estimating the location of the mobile object 100; a second aisle-area computing unit 5 for computing an aisle area from a reference map indicative of a location of a fixed obstacle located in the given range and the location od the mobile object; an area ratio computing unit 6 for computing an area ratio of the aisle areas computed by the first and second aisle-area computing units 3 and 5; and a speed setting unit 8 for setting a speed of the mobile object 100 based on the area ratio, thereby preventing a rapid speed change and enabling smooth deceleration.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT
