PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for growing a single crystal of a decomposition melting type or an inharmonious compositional substance of large-sized, uniform in composition and small in distortion in a high yield.;SOLUTION: In the crystal growth method where an initial precursor having a composition which becomes most or a part of seed crystals 2 and growth crystals 3 is stored in a container 1 which specifies the shape of the growth crystals 3, a crucible 1 is heated and all the initial precursor and a part of the seed crystals 2 are heated and melted to become an initial melt 4, then the crystal growth starts (sticking seed crystals) using an unmelted seed crystal part 2 as seeds and the melt 4 is gradually solidified from one direction to grow single crystals 3 having a desired composition and shape, a melt composition which is necessary and optimum in all crystal growth processes including an initial precursor melting and seed sticking process, a crystal body growing process and a crystal growth finalizing process is realized so as to realize a unidirectional solidification crystal growth by applying a method and means for adding an additional melt 9 having a composition different from that of the initial melt 4 continuously, intermittently or temporarily in the crystal growth process.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT
