PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide light with a stable optical output in a desired wavelength.;SOLUTION: A wavelength variable laser 100 comprises: a DFB section 2 including a first light waveguide 10a provided with a first diffraction grating 31a; a DBR section 3 optically coupled with the first light waveguide 10a, and including a second light waveguide 10b provided with plural second diffraction gratings 32a in a waveguide direction; and a phase shift section 4 including a third light waveguide 10c optically coupled with the first light waveguide 10a and the second light waveguide 10b, and shifting a phase of light guided through a light waveguide 10.
