PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system and method for translation between Chinese traditional characters and Chinese simplified characters, capable of automatic, fast, and accurate translation from simplified characters to traditional characters or from traditional characters to simplified characters.SOLUTION: The system for translation between Chinese traditional characters and simplified characters includes: an acquisition module which acquires one word in an order from the longest character length to the shortest character length in a word table; a search module which searches for a position code of the word in a document; a determination module which determines whether the position code of the acquired word overlaps with the position code of another word having a longer character length than the word or not; a deletion module which deletes the overlapping code from the found position code of the word; a saving module which saves the position code resulting from deletion of the overlapping position code of the word, into the word table; and a conversion module which converts the document according to the word table in which the position code is saved.
