The chair/stool has a base, a seat, and an adjusting unit for height adjustment of the seat relative to the base. The adjusting unit includes a guide assembly provided with a shaft (9) slidable mounted inside a sleeve (5), where the shaft is coupled to the seat. A jack (91) drives the shaft to slide in the sleeve, and a locking unit locks in rotation of the shaft relative to the sleeve. The guide assembly includes an oblong groove and a key fitted around the groove to form a sliding surface against the groove.
