Method for processing requests for seismic data to identify fault zones for e.g. earthquake predictions, involves merging seismic data from first section and second section into portion of seismic cube
The method involves receiving a read request to read a portion of a seismic cube. A seismic cube index is querying to obtain a mapping parameter and a storage location of a section with portion of seismic cube. Virtual locations in seismic cube are mapped with data locations in section. A data location is calculated in the section corresponding to virtual location of portion using mapping parameter. Another read request is transmitted to storage location of section. Seismic data from first section and second section is merged into the portion of seismic cube. Independent claims are included for the following: (1) a system for processing requests for seismic data; and (2) a distributed computer system.
