Method for coding e.g. H.264 coding, of video signal, involves assigning spatial prediction mode to set of pixels of image, and using assigned spatial prediction mode as predictor for spatial prediction mode for another set of pixels
The method involves assigning a spatial prediction mode to a set of pixels of an image (I), and using the assigned spatial prediction mode as a predictor for the spatial prediction mode for another set of pixels of the image. The assigned spatial prediction mode is another spatial prediction mode when the former set of pixels is coded using the former spatial prediction mode. The assigned spatial prediction mode is determined corresponding to a spatial prediction mode previously assigned to a set of neighboring pixels. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a computer program for coding a video signal (2) a method for decoding a video signal (3) a computer program for decoding a video signal (4) a coding element (5) a decoding element.
