The installation has overhead cables including a line that forms a forward path (3) and a return path (4) in a closed loop. Intermediate stations (6) and pylons (9, 10) are spread out along the line. A cable car supporting carrier is coupled with a traction cable or carrier-tractor (5) pulled by a device at variable speed. A regular spacing is provided between cable cars (8). A cable driving mechanism is programmed for driving the cable cars at high-line speed, at slow speed for passage of the cable cars to the pylons and at reduced or null speed at end stations (1, 2).
