The method involves transmitting an external electromagnetic field using an electromagnetic field source (22) located away from a platform (12) in an enclosure (20), and measuring an internal value of a physical quantity resulting from the electromagnetic field. The electromagnetic field emitted by the source is varied for a given frequency, and several internal values corresponding to the variation of the electromagnetic field are collected, where electromagnetic attenuation of the external electromagnetic field is determined based on the internal values obtained for the given frequency. The physical quantity is selected from one of internal electric field, an induced internal current, an internal electric voltage, or an internal power. An independent claim is also included for an installation for determining electromagnetic attenuation of an external electromagnetic field in a platform.
