The device has spikes or barbs (p) placed on a surface (S) of a stiffener element (20) to connect the stiffener element with a fabric element and to retain the fabric element. The spikes or barbs are distributed on the surface of the stiffener element at equal intervals in a direction (M) of relative movement of the fabric element with respect to the stiffener element and in a direction perpendicular to the direction of relative movement. The barbs are formed in a polyhedral shape e.g. tetrahedron or pyramid shape. An independent claim is also included for a sheet system for a steering column of a vehicle.
