The method involves adding transport costs of a transport unit (202) in each of a set of to obtain transportation costs of the transport unit for a specific route (200) or trajectory. A set of secondary elements (224, 226, 228) is arranged with the transport unit on different parts of the trajectory. The set of segments is associated with a set of sub-segments such that a set of secondary units carried in each sub-segment by a same vehicle (V210) e.g. light van, is constant. An independent claim is also included for a device for determining cost of transport of an element on a trajectory.
