The device has a seat movable between a passenger occupying configuration and a release configuration. A connection pivot rotates the seat to about 135 degrees into a space (41) extending in a load compartment (2) of a utility car (1), where an axle (A) of the pivot connection is transverse, and the axle is located in a vicinity of an upper edge of a back (11) of the seat. A partition wall (4) is provided between a passenger compartment (5) and the load compartment of the car, where the space extends into an upper portion of the load compartment, above the seat.
