The method involves determining intensities of a main receiving channel (19) and a side receiving channel (20) by calculating average spectral sensitivity values of a non-luminous object (1), and determining a relationship between the non-luminous objects and spectral sensitivity of photosensitive receivers (15) of the main receiving channel. Compensation signals are computed for distance-related variation error of the intensities of the main reception channel for computation of color or spectral properties of the non-luminous object. An independent claim is also included for an arrangement for distance variation compensated contactless point- reflection measurement of intensities of non-luminous objects for the determination of color or spectral properties.
