Composition for detecting Mycobacterium avium ssp. paratuberculosis comprises a molecularly imprinted polymer which is held on a solid support, where the molecularly imprinted polymer is capable of specifically binding to M. avium ssp. paratuberculosis. An independent claim is also included for detecting M. avium ssp. paratuberculosis by using the composition, comprising providing a biological sample derived from a human or animal, to which the composition is administered and detecting the presence of M. avium ssp. paratuberculosis.
