Treatment device i.e. applicator, for e.g. ablation of living prostate tissue by laser light, has microstructured-multimode optical fiber whose light exit end is designed curved and includes open tubes, which extend in exit direction
The device has a microstructured-multimode optical fiber (4) including a core (9) for forwarding coupled laser light (2). A cladding (10) is arranged above the core. A light exit end (6) of the fiber is designed curved and includes open tubes (T), which extend in an exit direction. Capillaries (12) extend into the cladding in a fiber longitudinal direction, and are arranged in a radial distance from a longitudinal axis (14) of the fiber. The capillaries form capillary rings when viewed in a cross-section. Capillary cavities are separated from each other by bars.
