The method involves engraving depressions by direct laser engraving using a laser beam (16) in a rotary printing mold blank with a cylindrical surface (20) to form non-printing areas. The raised printed areas are formed, whose surfaces are aligned with the cylindrical surface of the printing mold blank. An uneven surface profile is engraved in one portion of the surfaces of the raised printed areas by direct laser engraving by the laser beam. The uneven surface profile and the recesses are engraved in the non-printing areas with the laser beam from the same laser.
