Method for monitoring condition of engine oil of internal combustion engine, involves comparing detected operating time and oil temperature with predetermined threshold values and reviewing actual operation as cold start
The method involves detecting (24) the operating time of an internal combustion engine and the oil temperature. The detected operating time and oil temperature are compared with predetermined threshold values. An actual operation is reviewed (25) as a cold start when the thresholds are achieved. A counter value for each cold start is incremented (26). A warning is generated when the counter value exceeds a pre-determined limit. The actual operation is reviewed (28) as a warm start when the thresholds are exceeded.
