The boiler system (1) has a process vapor firing device (6) that is connected with a fire-tube boiler (3) for producing process heat. A flue gas removal unit (7) is provided for removing the flue gas (8). An air heat exchanger (9) is arranged in the flue gas removal unit for cooling of the flue gas and simultaneous preheating of combustion air (5). An independent claim is included for a method for operating boiler system.
