The compressor (1) has first and second compaction stages (4, 5) arranged in a common housing (26), and a common electrical drive unit (3) i.e. electromotor, for the compaction stages, where the second compaction stage is formed by a reciprocating piston compressor. The first compaction stage is formed by a multi-chamber cellular blower implemented as a rotary compressor. The common drive unit has a common drive shaft (6) for driving both the compaction stages. The first compaction stage comprises a rotor (8), which is arranged coaxial to the drive shaft.
