Fiber-optic current sensor for measuring electric currents, has current amplifier in connection with windings of electromagnetic coil, so that electric current is powered with power source and linear proportional to values
The sensor (1) has optical fiber coils (6, 11, 19) including windings of electromagnetic coils (8, 10, 12). A power supply (18) is provided in the windings of one of the electromagnetic coils. Current amplifiers (15, 16) are attached to a signal output of a photo diode (14), where one of the amplifiers is in connection with windings of two of the fiber coils. Another amplifier is in connection with the windings of another electromagnetic coil, so that the current is powered with the power source and linear proportional to current measurement values (i0, i1) by the amplifiers. An independent claim is also included for a method for measuring electric currents with compensation of double-refraction by a fiber-optic current sensor.
