Method for determining material characteristics data of energy absorbing element for use in vehicle to absorb energy during collision, involves triggering specimen when load is input in middle region of front end of specimen
The method involves clamping an edge side of a rectangular plate-like specimen (1) in a test position by using a U-shaped chuck jaw (11) of a testing apparatus (10), where the specimen is made of fiber reinforced plastic. A load is input in a middle region (3) of a load input receiving front end (2) of the specimen, where clamped edge regions (4a, 4b) of the specimen are identically spaced on both sides of the middle region. The specimen is triggered when the load is input in the middle region. An independent claim is also included for a testing apparatus for determining material characteristics data of a plate-like specimen.
