The device (1) for processing, particularly for adiabatic separation, of a work piece, has a cyclic pressure-operated machining tool (4) and a drive unit (10), which has a coupling unit, by which the machining tool is connected with the drive unit in a coupling position. The machining tool is guided by an uncoupled position to a bottom dead center by tool guides (3a,3b). The machining tool is guided by the bottom dead center to a coupling point by a fetching unit.
