The method comprises cooling a molding sand (2) in a cooling zone to form a fluidized bed, and crushing agglomerations of the molding sand in an inlet region of the cooling zone, an outlet region of the cooling zone and/or into the fluidized bed by rotary striking tools. The striking tools are rotated around two rotational axes, and are vibrated in oscillation. Water (11) and/or additive is fed to the molding sand before, during and/or after crushing step. Whirled fine particles are extracted during the crushing step. An independent claim is included for a device for processing a molding sand.
