In an MRI system, a receiving device is in a strong alternating magnetic field. This makes it difficult to operate in the receiving device, other complex electrical circuits. Also voluminous electrical circuits make the receiving device unwieldy, which makes it difficult in particular a study of living patients. An object underlying the invention is to simplify the circuit complexity. The MRT system (10) according to the invention has at least one receiving device (12) for an MR-HF signal. The receiving device (12) comprises a receiving coil element (28) for receiving the MR-HF signal, an optical modulator (40) in which an electrical control input (38) is coupled to the receiving coil element (28) and an optical output (48 ) for outputting an output signal (Lo) of the modulator (40). The optical modulator (40) forms an optical demodulation device for the MR-RF signal.
