The lighting device (1) comprises an electric motor (10) such as a direct current (DC) motor or an alternating current (AC) motor or a generator which is permanently coupled mechanically with a drive wheel (50) that is driven by the electric motor. The electric motor is connected to a voltage reduction circuit (26) through direct electrical connection (12) to reduce the voltage supplied to a lighting unit (16) mounted in bicycle (100). A power switch (22) of a power supply unit is connected to the lighting unit through the electrical connection.
