The device has torsion bar springs (6,6a) which converts the relative movement of the two masses (1,4) into partial rotary movement. A rotary damper (5) damps the rotary motion. The rotary damper has electronic regular damper which partially converts the rotational motion into electrical energy. The torsion bar springs are configured in such a manner so that the cutting plane of the rotational movement and the plane perpendicular to the direction of relative movement of the two masses intersect at a predetermined angle. An independent claim is included for method for damping relative movements between two masses in motor vehicle.
