Energy storage system e.g. battery system for e.g. hybrid vehicle, has control switches which are provided for individually applying the adjustable output voltage for charging and discharging the energy storage units respectively
The energy storage system has an energy storage device (10) with several series-connected energy storage units (1-n). An equalization unit is provided for equalizing the charge states of the energy storage units by loading and unloading the energy storage units. The direct current (DC)/DC converter is set with an adjustable output voltage such that the control switches (S1-S4) are provided for individually applying the output voltage for charging and discharging the energy storage units respectively.
