Auto-focus system for optical inspection system used for inspecting objects e.g. electronic components, regulates spacing between lens of camera and objects based on contrast value such that focus of inspection system is controlled
The auto-focus system (1) has auto-focus sensor (10) which is provided for inspecting the objects (2-1-2-5) using sensor fields (SF). The carrier film (4) provided on the conveyor is moved relative to the lens (5) of inspection camera (6). The focus region is determined by assigning the contrast value of the sensor fields. The spacing (Z) between the lens of the inspection camera and objects is regulated corresponding to assigned contrast value such that the focus of the optical inspection system is controlled. An independent claim is included for method for controlling focus of optical inspection system.
