Fuel injection system, particularly common-rail injection system for internal combustion engine, has high-pressure pump for delivering fuel at high pressure and high pressure accumulator standing in connection with high-pressure pump
The fuel injection system has a high-pressure pump (1) for delivering fuel at high pressure and a high pressure accumulator (2) standing in connection with the high-pressure pump. A fuel injector (3) for injecting fuel in a combustion chamber of an internal combustion engine is connected to the high pressure accumulator. A return line (4) is provided for recirculating a control- or leakage amount of the fuel injector into a low-pressure region (5) of the fuel injection system. An electrically operated valve (6) is arranged in the return line for preventing the leakage of the fuel injector. An independent claim is included for a method for operating a fuel injection system.
