The apparatus (1) has an impingement drying group (4) comprising transfer regions (T1, T2) and impingement regions (L1, L2), where the transfer regions extend between drying cylinders (5, 6) and guide rollers (7, 9). The guide rollers are completely arranged below drying groups (2, 3) that are mounted on a horizontally running machine plane (18). An impingement dryer (14) is deflected by the guide rollers such that detour angle (U3) amounts to 64 degrees to increase proportion of the impingement regions based on drying capacitance of the drying apparatus. The transfer region and/or the impingement region are designed as straight and/or curved path. The drying groups are selected from single-row drying group or double-row drying group.
