Producing low basal textured magnesium tape or magnesium sheet having improved cold formability, comprises (a) rolling magnesium castable roll tape as starting material after homogenizing annealing in at least one rolling pass at greater than 350[deg] C to a thickness of final tape- or sheet thickness, (b) rolling the rolled tape or sheet in a final rolling pass at 100-140[deg] C with the deformation degree of at least 0.15, (c) heat treating at 330[deg] C for 5-120 minutes, and (d) bending the rolled and annealed tape or sheet several times by rotating bending rollers (1). Producing low basal textured magnesium tape or magnesium sheet having improved cold formability, comprises (a) rolling magnesium castable roll tape as starting material after homogenizing annealing in at least one rolling pass at greater than 350[deg] C to a thickness to the final tape- or sheet thickness, (b) rolling the rolled tape or sheet in a final rolling pass at 100-140[deg] C with the deformation degree of at least 0.15, (c) heat treating at 330[deg] C for 5-120 minutes, and (d) bending the rolled and annealed tape or sheet several times by rotating bending rollers (1) alternately in both sheet normal directions, where the number of bending cycles comprising a alternate roller bending in both sheet normal directions is at least 5, and the used bending rollers exhibit a bending roller radius of 6.6 times the sheet thickness to 35 times the sheet thickness, depending on the thickness of the rolled and heat-treated tape or sheet.
