In one embodiment, a microfluidic device for modifying a fluid flow be made available. The microfluidic device may comprise a chamber with a first casing section with an inlet which is configured in a fluid flow to obtain the chamber, a second casing section with an outlet, which is configured to a modified fluid flow out of the chamber, wherein the second casing section in comparison to the first casing section a smaller chamber cross-section is defined, and at least one retention structure with at least one holding surface, that is divided between the first chamber section and the second casing section, and a membrane in the first casing section, wherein the membrane between a position on the inlet and a position at the at least one holding surface is displaceable by the fluid flow. A microfluidic system may also be provided, which has the microfluidic device.
