The method involves equipping a user (2) with a camera (21) and a stereoscopic display device (20) displaying a video stream. Position and orientation of the user in a physical space (1) are determined from a position of visual targets (10) in another video stream captured by the camera. The former stream is reproduced by the display device. A virtual space is constructed and aligned with the physical space using the position of the targets. Three-dimensional models of furniture or habitat elements are placed in the virtual space. Projections of the models are superposed on the former stream. The physical space is constituted of a part of an apartment building or virtual showroom in a shop or exhibition area. An independent claim is also included for a virtual interior simulation equipment.
