PURPOSE: An edge-based image interpolating method and a device using the same are provided to enlarge a low resolution image into a high resolution image by differentiating interpolating methods regarding edge features of an image.;CONSTITUTION: If a current area is an edge area, an image interpolating device calculates an edge map(S200,S220). If the current area is not the edge area, the device performs the linear interpolation of the image(S210). If the current edge area is a short edge area, the device performs the interpolation of the image by applying a non-linear interpolation method(S230,S235).
