A navigation terminal and a navigation method for selecting a route by using an experienced route are provided to enhance driver convenience by displaying experienced information, such as a driving time, used numbers, and an average driving time, on the experienced route. A navigation terminal includes an ignition detector(50), a satellite system module(80), a route database(60), and a controller(10). The ignition detector outputs turn-on or turn-off signals according to an ignition state. The satellite system module measures a current position. The route database stores experienced information, such as a driving time, used numbers, and an average driving time. The controller stores the current position based on the ignition state, counts the driving time, generates and stores experienced routes, stores the driving time to the route database, searches the experienced route from the route database when a destination is inputted, performs a map matching on the searched experienced route, and displays map data and a driving time on the experienced route.
