A cable dome prestressing force determination method. The method is based on an overall analysis of tension and bearing of a cable dome, comprising the following steps: first, determining the initial geometric shape of the cable dome structure; then, determining the initial prestressing force, P0; then, using the initial prestressing force, P0, as the basic module to gradually increase the prestressing force; while the geometric shape of the cable dome structure is basically not changed, and using the incremental load method to perform elasticity and geometric non-linear simulation analysis on the overall structural bearing process; then, based on the simulation analysis result from the previous step, plotting the overall displacement-load curve and overall stress-load curve for the cable dome structure; finally, evaluating the stable bearing capability and structural deformation capability of the cable dome structure under different multiples of the initial prestressing force, P0, according to the plotted overall curves so as to determine the designed prestressing force of the cable dome structure. The method takes the view of engineering design, satisfies as much as possible the geometric shape of a building as well as the structural safety objective, and is easy for engineering designers to master and use.
