The present invention relates to an integrated process for firing of biomass and/or waste in existing dust fired power plants, such as coal fired boilers with a maximum of biomass utilization and efficiency and minimum emission in the power plant, which process includes torrefaction of the biomass and/or waste. The present invention also relates to solid fuel fired power plant for firing or cofiring of biomass and/or waste materials, which power plant can use an existing dust fired boiler.
