A vertical convection radiator comprises a substrate for light source mounting parts and a plurality of heat radiating fins (11) whose lower ends are heat conducting connected with the substrate. The vertical convection radiator is provided with a plurality of flow passages (13) passing through the upper surface and lower surface of the vertical convection radiator. A vertical convection radiating cylinder lamp comprises the vertical convection radiator. When the vertical convector radiator is working, the air adjacent to the ends of the heat radiating fins (11) is heated and rises, at the same time, the neighboring cold air will continuously complement to generate a convection. Even in the condition of passive heat radiating, a sufficient heat exchange would generate between the cold air and the surface of the heat radiating fins (11)of the vertical convection radiator, and the heat is quickly taken away, thereby avoiding the generation of the "heat island effect", and improving the heat radiating capability.
