An X-ray imaging device andalignment/scanning system include at least onemultilayer X-ray mirror mounted on a multi-axisadjustable mirror mount pivotable about a scanningaxis. A mirror scanner is coupled with the mirrormount and synchronized with the X-ray sourceso that the mirror scanner moves the mirror mountabout the scanning axis. The invention mayinclude a plurality of mirrors, optionally in a stack,and preferably including first and second mirrorsrespectively adapted to reflect X-rays of first andsecond energies. A movable attenuation platehaving a window selectively allows X-rays tobe transmitted by one of the mirrors and blocksX-rays from the other mirror(s). Sets of the mirrorsmay be configured in blocks or interspersed. Themirror scanner may be operable at variable speedsto enable selective control of the scanning speedof the mirror.
