The invention relates to a method of segmenting pores (3) of a porous polymeric membrane on an image of a cross section of said membrane. The proposed method comprises the steps applying a set of masks to a window centered on a pixel and calculate an energy parameter for each applied filter, associating the pixel in which the window is centered. Then move the window around the image by applying the set of masks and calculating the power settings. With energy parameters obtained, classifying the pixels in pixels belonging to a porous region (1) or a nonporous region (2). Then produce a binary image in which each pore (3) is represented by a closed line. Finally, construct an adjacency graph with nodes (7) and edges (8), wherein each node (7) represents a pore (3) and each edge the distance between two pores (3).
