A method for methane extraction at fields of shut down coal mines with steeply inclined or steep seams includes bed series of worked out not superimposed and superimposed coal seams by category of placement and is based on drilling from surface of degassing holes to zone of technogenous collectors of methane concentration, those are formed with disintegration of rocks in process of extraction of coal seams, and selection of location for laying degassing holes. In the bed series of worked out seams determined are a category of placement of those one with respect to another and parameters of placement of technogenous collectors with maximum concentration of methane, each of those is placed in zone between the angles of total shifts of rocks of worked out level of the higher horizon where gas comes from worked out space of the level of lower horizon by systems of open main cracks formed by stratification of destroyed rocks. At that the value of the angle of displacement on the rise is larger than the value of the angle of displacement downdip.
