PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a metallic powder composed of magnesium-based metallic particles which have an approximately spherical shape, and have fine magnesium silicide grains with a particle diameter of 10 μm or smaller approximately uniformly dispersed therein; a method for easily and inexpensively producing the metallic powder; and a method for easily and inexpensively manufacturing automotive parts from the metallic powder.;SOLUTION: This method for producing the metallic powder comprises the steps of: storing a molten metal containing 90 to 95 mass% magnesium and 5 to 10 mass% silicon in a reservoir 22 under an inert gas atmosphere; holding it at a constant temperature; discharging the molten metal 32 from an outlet 28 opened in the reservoir 22 by increasing an internal pressure of the reservoir 22; and colliding a collision gas against the discharged molten metal 32. Thereby, the molten metal 32 is scattered and solidified into particles with an average diameter of 40 to 100 μm.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
