PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a batter composition for obtaining batter for fried food with a crispy and crunchy texture, and the fried food using the batter composition.;SOLUTION: The batter composition includes 1 mass% or more and 70 mass% or less of non-waxy rice flour heat-moisture treated with wet steam at a food temperature of 80°C or higher and 110°C or lower for 10 minutes or more and 40 minutes or less. A further preferable mixing amount is 5 mass% or more and 50 mass% or less.
