A method for manufacturing a drilling guide rail characterised in that high-carbon steel is annealed at the temperature of 850 860 degrees Celsius for 40 minutes and then rapidly placed in a salt bath and held for 40 minutes at a temperature of 290 300 degrees Celsius, after which it is covered consecutively with a chromium based coating (9, fig 2) and a carbon coating (10, fig 2). The method produces a guide rail made of cheaper high carbon steel in place a hard sintered material but that ensures high flexibility and high hardness due to the salt bath treatment. The drilling guide is rectangular shaped with grooves (5) placed asymmetrically on the upper convex surface (3). The drilling guide rail is mounted to drill heads used in deep drilling operations.
