The method involves providing a set of connectors (CR1-CR4), and determining initial states of charge of a set of batteries (BA1-BA4), where two of the batteries are charged when charge states of the batteries are equal to initial state of charge of a third battery. The initial state of charge of the third battery is nearest to initial state of one of the two batteries. The charging of the two batteries is continued in addition to charging of the third battery until all the batteries are recharged. An independent claim is also included for a device for controlling parallel charging of direct current batteries of vehicles e.g. electric car or hybrid car, connected to a charging point.
