Method for e.g. monitoring terrestrial targets moving at ground surface by using position measurements from radar sensor onboard on e.g. aircraft, involves defining tracking plane associated to target, so as to be tangent to surface
The method involves tracking plane (PI1) of target (T1) at an instant of definition of tracking plane. The target is tracked by assuming that the target is in movement in the tracking plane. The tracking plane associated to the target is defined, so as to be tangent to a surface (S) of ground at a position of the target at the instant of definition of the tracking plane, where a frequency of definition of the tracking plane is fixed and depends on the movement of the target. Calculation of state vector of the track is produced during maintenance of the track associated to the target.
